Ingredients
How many servings?
- 1½ cups (300 ml) sugar
- 1½ cups (300 ml) water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 250 g curd cheese
- 2 egg
- ½ cups (100 ml) semolina
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp walnuts
Method
- Boil most of the sugar with the water for 10 minutes, add the lemon juice and leave the syrup to cool.
- Heat the oven to 180 °C; beat the curd cheese, eggs and the rest of the sugar until smooth.
- Stir in the semolina and baking powder and spread in a small greased baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for about 25–30 minutes, until the top is golden and the center is fully set.
- Slice the cake while still hot. Slowly pour the cooled syrup over it and let it rest for about 20–30 minutes to absorb the syrup. Sprinkle with walnuts and serve.
